Negative Prenatal Diagnosis after Infertility |
The Unrevoked Commandment The Lord issued a commandment to multiply and replenish the earth, and that commandment has never been revoked. Christian women who believe this, or who have a "quiverful" belief, may be especially dismayed at unexpected infertility. Why, if it is a commandment, am I denied the means by which to fulfill my obligation to be obedient? Why, if it is a righteous thing, do my efforts come to nothing? I think that we are blessed to live in an age when failure to bear a child is not the public failure it once was - in the days when the woman bore the blame. But that brings an ache of its own as we are judged as having CHOSE not to have a child. We cannot always be the means of bearing the children we desire to do. But anyone can assist in "replenishing" the earth. To replenish means to restore, enhance, repair, or replace. We can do that by our actions to anyone who comes within our path. We can find our mission in life and boldly carry it out. It doesn't remove the sense of loss to know that God loves you. But it does soften the blow, and allow you to go forward and function, and to find joy in other things if that is what you must do. We all hope that we will not be "the one" for whom time runs out, and dreams evaporate. But if we are, let us hope we can go forward with strength, joy, and hope, in spite of our loss.

"And she conceived again, and bare a son:and she said, Now I will praise the Lord: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing." Genesis 29:35 This site is titled after this verse, which speaks of Leah. This verse offers hope, because Leah did go on to bear more children. Other sites by Us |
