Negative Prenatal Diagnosis after Infertility |
Adoption Many couples do not want to adopt, it feels too much like giving up. Others feel like, "hey, if we have to wait, why not fill the time with another child?". It makes sense to them to get on with their lives, and to fill it with things that will make a difference. Adoption is becoming increasingly difficult. Babies are hard to get, adopting through the foster system is highly uncertain, and international adoption is more and more time and resource intensive every year. Parents who feel the desire to do so must be very committed, and it is, in my opinion, much more difficult than just having a baby and carrying them for nine months. Most adoptive parents are fortunate if they are able to finish an adoption in as little as nine months. I see a lot of people who start out talking adoption, but who, when they see the work, or the money, involved, give up in discouragement. It IS discouraging. And sometimes in spite of all efforts, it just doesn't happen. Insurmountable roadblocks do occur. Many can be overcome by a strong commitment, some cannot. What is certain is that if you set your course on adoption, it will take more from you than you think you ought to have to give. It will require every ounce of determination and commitment that you can muster. Those elements are no guarantee that it WILL work, but lack of them is a dead certainty that it won't happen.

"And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now I will praise the Lord: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing." Genesis 29:35 This site is titled after this verse, which speaks of Leah. This verse offers hope, because Leah did go on to bear more children. Other sites by Us |
